Інформація з обкладинки:
This Album is dedicated to the spirit and traditions that make a UKRAINIAN WEDDING one of the most joyous of all occasions. Mention to anyone, Ukrainian or not, the words “UKRAINIAN WEDDING” and visions of sumptuous foods, good cheer, lively music, and an atmosphere of vibrant festivity comes to mind.
We have tried to capture the essence of the festive spirit that is a UKRAINIAN WEDDING by combining traditional songs and new melodies, set to a lively tempo, played as they were meant to be.
You will enjoy the sounds of PAN FLUTE, BANDURA, CYMBALI, VIOLINS, and MANDOLINS as they dance freely through melodies and memories of a culture that is as beautiful and captivating as it is dear to all that is in our hearts.
So open the stereo, put the record on, turn up the volume, and before you know it, your feet will begin tapping, and you’ll be dancing and singing to the sounds of A UKRAINIAN WEDDING.
To this day, I still get excited at the thought of going to one of “Our” wedding. The combination of seeing old friend, digging into plates of Varenniki and Holubtsi, and dancing to a good Kolomeyka is too much to resist. Doesn’t just thinking about a Ukrainian Wedding bring to mind a group of friends, sitting around a table, singing a chorus of “Bela mene mati”, slightly our of tune?
I belive that one of the most wonderful things about a Ukrainian Wedding is the fact that we have been able to hold on to our culture, the traditions of a land far away. and I know that we, as one people, will keep these traditions are our treasure.
I can’t begin to property thank the musicians involved in this recording, except to say that I belive each one to be the best at this instrument in Montreal. It is probably because of their skills and years of experience, that we ware able to take, what was musically, a very difficult project, and turn it into one that became, simply, a lot of fun.
It is in that spirit that this album is intended, and I hope you will enjoy it as such: good, old-fashioned, traditional, fun, because that is… A Ukrainian Wedding.
